Minutes:

0) Previous Minutes:

ACTIONS:

  • Silvia to lock minutes and send to membership

1) Incorporation:

  • Silvia summarised that all the options that we have, apart from incorporating as a NSW association, are either costly, complicated, or don't serve the purpose (see discussions in previous meeting minutes)
  • James mentioned that the creation of an Annodex Foundation as a subgroup of Linux Australia was to be on the next LA committee meeting
  • joining LA would be bothersome and we would connect us strongly with Linux, which would upset some
  • Silvia suggested to go away from the name "Foundation" and simply incorporate an Association under a different name
  • name suggestions:
 * Shane: Annodex Association, Annodex Anonymous, Annodex Caretaker Fellowship
 * Mike: Annodex Awesomeness Association
 * Silvia: Annodex User Goup, Open Media Association
 * Conrad: Annodex Consortium, Annodex Task Force (contributed later)
  • voted: to incorporate under "Annodex Association, Inc." - supported by James, Mike, Silvia, Zen
  • Mike registers an official "Yay!"

ACTIONS:

  • Silvia to reserve "Annodex Association, Inc." name
  • everyone to work over current constitution

2) CSIRO and Annodex:

  • Shane invited to be a more permanent guest on the committee to maintain more active connection with CSIRO
  • Shane explains:
 * there will be an active team continuing to work on Annodex in CSIRO under the Information Engineering lab
 * until the end of CeNTIE in June 2007, there will be enough hardware and bandwidth for the project
 * he is working on the OpenRoadTrip server and its fibrechannel connections to get tannewt into a better position
 * there will be a replacement for Conrad at CSIRO
  • Shane suggests implementation of a backup policy, possibly to xiph.org servers:
 * Shane doesn't have xiph server access yet
 * we need a volunteer to look after the backups

ACTIONS:

  • Silvia to talk to rillian about server access for backup purposes & about server access for Shane

3) Other business:

  • Zen explains that he may not be able to continue working on oggcodecs after joining Microsoft in January:
 * he will not be able to attend December or January meetings
 * he would would probably need to be replaced on the committee from January on
