Annual General Meeting, Annodex Association, 16th January 2009

On Friday 16th Jan 2009 we had the third AGM of the Annodex Foundation since incorporation. We met on irc channel #anxassoc, freenode.net and at SocSci213, Sandy Bay Campus, University of Tasmania for the Hobart crowd.

1. President's report 2008

The committee had a monthly meeting every month of this last year apart from April, October and December.

Activities that the association was involved with this year include sponsorship of the FOMS workshop in Hobart and Annodex codefests in February, April and August.

public meetings: April, June, August, November

private meetings: March, May, July, September

The main challenges of this year were helping CSIRO open source old Annodex code, and collaborations with different groups in particular towards standardisation of open media technologies.

CSIRO relationship clarified:

  • CSIRO open sourced AnxCreator (DMTagger) and Annodex IE Plugin (see http://ict.csiro.au/downloads.php).
  • CSIRO professional membership on the Annodex Association Advisory Panel at $400/year.
  • CSIRO to donate Trademark to Annodex Association.

The Web servers www.annodex.org, www.annodex.net, media.annodex.net, and validator.xiph.org are continuing to run on a vmware server graciously provided by Chris Double of the Mozilla foundation.

One open challenge for the next year is to negotiate with CSIRO on the Annodex trademark.

The president's report was accepted without objections.

As these nominations fill all available positions without contest, there is at present no need for an election of office bearers.

During the meeting, all nominees accepted their position. Congratulations!

Thanks to outgoing committee members James Purser, Michael Smith, Shane Stevens for their service for the last year.
