Annodex Foundation Committee Meeting Minutes
17th April 2007, opened: 21:30, closed: 22:21 on irc #anxassoc
For lack of quorum, the committee meeting was delayed by a week.

2. Action Items Review
- Conrad: distribute AGM minutes and Election Report to members and advisory panel
-> done
- Shane: email external server contact points
-> delayed
- Shane: tell Ralph which lists to delete, and which to archive
-> mailing lists have been moved and reorganised
- All: encourage people to apply for GSoC projects (students, university mailing lists, etc)
-> we received one project to be supervised by Conrad; should aim to do better next year
- Conrad: mail President's report to Association members
-> done
- Shane: try to extract membership list from member_man's db, and set up a manual list
-> delayed
- James: move member_man to sqlite
-> delayed
- Silvia: Chase up and report on DGR process
-> delayed
- Silvia: Arrange meeting with CSIRO about hand-over of trademark, documents and source code
-> emails have gone out, Silvia has to follow up
3. Servers & Systems
- mailing lists have been moved
- svn has been moved
- drupal annodex.net has to be moved
- mediawiki annodex.org has to be moved
- planet has to be moved
- external servers have to be moved
- Silvia offers her private server as temp solution
4. Membership activities
- it's rather quiet on our mailing lists
- maybe we need a list of issues to address
- each one of the committee members voiced things that they'd like to see addressed:
- get a sysadmin help
- improve website - in particular make front page of annodex.net more informative
- implement more user-visible tool support, e.g. mplayer, xine, mythTV
- write guides to how to use annodex
- promote metavid as annodex showcase and promote its use by others
- improve annodex description on wikipedia
- need to show the use of the annotations in Web2.0 style applications
- fix the drupal/acidfree plugin or make it easier to run
- create more content
- create mediawiki annodex supprot
- improve cmmlwiki
- cool things coming up:
- liboggplay - library for support of Ogg Theora/Annodex natively inside Mozilla
- Conrad demo of cmmlwiki at XTech
- MichaelD at Wikimania 07
- Zen's oggcodecs seem to come natively installed on some Windows OEM machines
5. Treasurer's Report
- we now have $109.00 in the bank after paying out Tims flight costs
- there are minor outstanding expense from FOMS
- we have $10 bank fees per month
- we need an additional source of income
6. Other business
- congratulations to Michael Dale for acquiring the funds to continue metavid full-time
- FOMS 2008:
- FOMS was a very useful activity of the Annodex Association as it clarified our goals in getting codec support into browsers, wikimedia etc.
- Silvia is planning to organise FOMS 2008 in Melbourne again and asked for Annodex Association support
- committee voted in favor of it
- FOMS will be held before LCA again - a winning strategy, especially re travel sponsorship
- Assoc should support the web presence
- Assoc should help in getting sponsors and sort out financials
- Silvia is planning explicit focus on audio on Linux, and on codecs
- possibly try and get support from Mozilla foundation, Archive.org, and OSDL
ACTION ITEMS:
- Shane: email external server contact points
- Shane: try to extract membership list from member_man's db, and set up a manual list
- Silvia: Chase up and report on DGR process
- James: move member_man to sqlite
- Silvia: Arrange meeting with CSIRO about hand-over of trademark, documents and source code
- Silvia, Shane: have a conversation with rillian about remaining annodex services
- all to explore closer relationship with Xiph.org, e.g. shared branding
- James: to give improvement of Annodex wikipedia page a go
